It is with great concern that I find out that the Chief Executive and Tory Leader of North Lincolnshire Council have changed the Council’s constitution without the debate or sanction of Full Council, Scrutiny or even the one party Cabinet.
This is an unprecedented move and yet another affront on local democracy here in North Lincolnshire and people wonder why I refer to us moving to a dictatorship.
The change was given the go ahead by the now outdated ‘Decision Record’ brought in at a time before Scrutiny was on the statute books to implement urgent decisions that couldn’t wait until the next Committee meeting.
The reason for this despicable move would be funny if it wasn’t so serious – ‘There is no ordinary meeting of council scheduled in the current municipal’.
Well who the Hell’s responsible for that ? You’ve got it, the North Lincolnshire Conservative Group.
NorthLincs Constitution and how changes are made is kinda my speciality. could you tell me what has been changed (the section) and who changed it (duly elected official or Civil servant) please get back to me as soon as you have these vital details because it is entirely possible that if a law was broken that a complaint could be made to the police that would require them to carry out an arrest. of course it could be that a loophole was used but again i have read the constitution cover to cover so know where most of the loopholes are. Im also of the opinion that the legal cousel that the Northlincs council gets is close to incompetent. They interpret the law to fit what they want instead of just following the law.
